Halo Infinite still has time to make adjustments to the co-op campaign once the beta is concluded and hopefully the biggest issues will be addressed. Halo Infinite's co-op mode also has some limitations such as a 1,000-meter tether that kills non-hosts who travel too far, marine NPCs only following the host, non-hosts being unable to summon vehicles, and players being unable to join the worlds of hosts who have progressed further in the campaign. The rubberbanding and desync issues from Halo Infinite's multiplayer are still present in co-op, along with some strange visual bugs such as co-op partners riding in vehicles while stuck in a standing pose. Most Halo Insiders have long since completed the campaign in Halo Infinite and many gamers have moved on from the game in the last eight months, so finding co-op partners isn't as simple as it should be.Īs this is a beta test, a large number of problems are being reported. Another option is the Halo Discord, though the co-op channel isn't game-specific and hosts groups running content for all Halo games. The Halo LFG tool is one resource, although it's almost entirely populated by players looking for PVP partners. Unless players are fortunate enough to have friends still interested in a Halo Infinite campaign run, they are forced to look to third-party tools to find co-op partners. RELATED: Halo Infinite Art Director Leaves 343Īlthough Halo Infinite's campaign co-op beta test has finally introduced the long-awaited feature, the lack of matchmaking is frustrating for prospective co-op players. Some of the fondest memories of many Halo fans involve fighting through the campaigns in co-op mode, a feature that Halo Infinite has only just included eight months after the game's release. Sadly, Halo Infinite's multiplayer has been riddled with desync issues and with the dwindling player base blaming lackluster customization options, frustrating bugs, and unsatisfying progression. As the latest installment in one of the most beloved franchises in the first-person shooter genre, the game initially enjoyed a sizable player base thanks to the free-to-play multiplayer component and the campaign's sprawling open-world structure. Halo Infinite has had a troublesome run since it first launched back in November 2021. Unfortunately for fans of Halo Infinite's campaign, co-op matchmaking will not be available even when the feature releases out of beta. Halo Infinite's Campaign Co-op beta test has been available to Xbox Insiders for several days, although the lack of matchmaking has made it noticeably tedious for players to find co-op partners.

These elements have been updated in Java 20. It is built on an imperative mono-thread programming model built on top of virtual threads. Structured concurrency leverages this feature to write asynchronous code in a very easy way. Virtual threads should be made final in JDK 21. You can easily launch millions of virtual threads on a machine that would only support a few thousand platform threads. Virtual threads are a new model of thread that is compatible with the current platform threads but much lighter. Loom brought 2 preview features in Java 19: virtual threads and structured concurrency. Time: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm UTC Session abstract If you’d like to find out more, register for the webinar and join the JetBrains Space team and our friends from Gitpod as we discuss and show how to work remotely with IntelliJ IDEA and manage your remote development environments.Join us for the IntelliJ IDEA livestream with José Paumard to learn about how to work with virtual threads. In the webinar, we’ll look at how Gateway works, how we’ve rearchitected IntelliJ IDEA to run without a user interface on a remote machine, and how JetBrains Client provides a rich, familiar interface with access to all of IntellIJ IDEA’s features locally. If you don’t want to set up your own remote machine, you can use the orchestration features of JetBrains Space or Gitpod to provide automated, reproducible remote development environments. It then downloads and caches the JetBrains Client, a lightweight, thin client that connects to the running instance of IntelliJ IDEA on the remote machine and provides a rich, familiar, IntelliJ-based user experience. Gateway will connect to a Linux server via SSH, download and install a version of IntelliJ IDEA, and open your project – all running remotely on a server. This small application is all you need to get up and running with remote development. The whole process of remote development with IntelliJ IDEA is managed by JetBrains Gateway. You can write your own automation scripts or use an orchestration provider, such as JetBrains Space or Gitpod, to build environments for your projects. This is great for getting team members up and running quickly, or simply making sure that everyone on the team has the same tools and dependencies installed. There are no requirements that the remote machine has to be a physical server, and if it’s virtual, that means you can script it and automate creation of a remote development environment. The source code always stays on the remote machine, and is never downloaded to your local machine. If you happen to leave your laptop in a coffee shop (far too easy to do!), then one thing you don’t need to worry about is your project’s IP. Source code is kept secure on the remote machine. You can use your office desktop or a small laptop while working from home to connect to a remote machine, and you’ll get all the power of the remote machine working on your project, wherever you are. Connect to powerful remote machines from anywhere. We know many people are working from home more often than in the past, but there are more reasons why you might want to start developing remotely: We’ll be discussing why you would want to move to remote development. REGISTER FOR THE WEBINAR Why remote development? We’ll also be joined by our friends at Gitpod, who’ll be talking about their experience with remote development and running IntelliJ IDEA in their ephemeral development environments. We’ll show you how to run IntelliJ IDEA on a remote server, from a simple SSH setup, to a more managed, automated environment provided by JetBrains Space. Join us on August 4 for a webinar where we’ll be showcasing JetBrains Gateway, our strategic remote development solution for IntelliJ IDEA. But do they have an adequate toolset to stay productive in these new circumstances? Is working on heavy, expensive, and overheating laptops or connecting to remote desktops with high latency truly the way to go? With the massive shift to remote work in all walks of life, it’s no surprise that developers are joining the pack. In realworld terms, it means that i might not find "tesco frozen sliced mushrooms 500g", but i will find "generic button mushrooms" or "asda frozen mushrooms" and get within 1% of the nutrition listed on my food. In the meantime, Cronometer pulls from multiple government databases, which it lists alongside the food data, and has a very detailed database of common foods. The slightly smaller database size isnt a deal-breaker for me, and will naturally resolve over time. I make the effort to enter all the nutrition data into the app every time, because thats the best and only way to improve this aspect of Cronometer, or any MFP alternative. Since using Cronometer, i estimate about 5% of my foods have not been entered into its database. Since MFP is the most popular app, it has the largest accumulated database of foods, making it the easiest app to use in terms of food searching. Not an issue specific to Cronometer, but specific to all apps whose content is communally populated. I can edit it easily and even clone it in case i want to make a new version. I can define multiple serving sizes (per 100g, per serving, per tsp, etc). On Cronometer, it is a dream! Heres what the site looks like as i edit a custom recipe. If youve ever used it, youll know what i mean. In MFP, either via the site or via the app, the user experience for making a new recipe was downright awful. MFP on the other hand locks this data behind a paywall. I use this data to track things like Leucine, Tryptophan and Omega 3, as well as the usual fiber and electrolytes. Its all there, listed for every food, every meal and every day. Seeing actual caloric figures reflecting my exercise is a big bonus for me, even if those numbers may be off as exercise-related caloric calculations tend to be.Ĭronometer attempts to track every single micronutrient, from omega 3/6/9 content of your fat to the amino acid content of your protein. Ive been using the dynamic budget to track my overall energy expenditure as i increase my workout frequency. At first it seemed counter-intuitive to set a goal and then see it move around, but actually, your preset goal and the dynamic goal are both presented next to each other on both the site and the app, so you can make your own caloric judgements with all the information readily at hand. it will adjust your daily requirements relative to your exercise and even thermal effect of food. One quirk of Cronometer is that it uses a dynamic caloric budget. I get no crashes, no freezing, i can navigate without lag and i dont have to hunt through menus to get to the features i want (custom meals in MFP for example). The app itself is just as modern and well developed as the site. Note the ad space is roughly 10% vs MFP's 50%+. Compared to MFP, whose site was developed sometime before the wheel, the Cronometer site is a dream to use. Clean, informative, and has modern UI interactions (click + drag, etc). I have been using the free version of Cronometer for about 2 months, and can recommend it whole-heartedly over MFP. Fuck MFP.Īfter hearing the news from MyFitnessPal that they will remove the barcode scanning feature from the free version of their app on October 1st, I have been looking for an alternative that will fit my needs. Most of my meals need to have this requirement, but this expression is only somewhat related to food: a Dreikäsehoch is what you call a small child who is only as tall as three wheels of cheese stacked on top of each other. The expression can also refer to someone’s who’s stingy and doesn’t want to spend any money on anything. This is the nitpicker who is always trying to make everything perfect down to the tiniest of peas: Erbsen means “peas” and Zähler means “tally.” So, an Erbsenzähler is a person who literally counts their peas. “Someone who is obsessed with details and a bit of a control freak.” I think this is pretty self explanatory, and anyone who’s on your bad list can be labeled as such. People who throw snowballs without gloves are pretty hardcore and should therefore be feared, right? That’s exactly the opposite of a Handschuhschneeballwerfer who is, pardon my French, a wimp. Most people tend to throw snowballs with gloves on. Oh, how I was wrong: an Ohrwurm is what happens when you get a song stuck in your head, and you (have to) keep singing it over and over again. The first time I heard this, I thought my friend had an actual worm in his ear that he probably caught during one of his latest backpacking trips. Now, in English, we would probably just say “party time” or “home alone,” but sturmfrei takes it to the next level: it’s basically equivalent to the saying, “When the cat’s away, the mice will play.” 2. “When your parents are away, and you have the whole house to yourself.” Even though that sounds like a pain, it’s actually refreshing to be able to explain an emotion or situation on a deeper level. Peek died of a heart attack at his home on December 19, 2009, aged 58. These were the first tentative approaches in using non-invasive technology to further investigate Kim's savant abilities.Ī 2008 study concluded that Peek probably had FG syndrome, a rare genetic syndrome linked to the X chromosome which causes physical anomalies such as hypotonia (low muscle tone) and macrocephaly (abnormally large head). The intent was to create a three-dimensional view of his brain structure and to compare the images to MRI scans done in 1988. In 2004, scientists at the Center for Bioinformatics Space Life Sciences at the NASA Ames Research Center examined Peek with a series of tests including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. He travelled with his father, who took care of him and performed many motor tasks that Peek found difficult. Peek also enjoyed approaching strangers and showing them his talent for calendar calculations by telling them on which day of the week they were born and what news items were on the front page of major newspapers. Barry Morrow gave Peek his Oscar statuette to carry with him and show at these appearances it has since been referred to as the "Most Loved Oscar Statue" as it has been held by more people than any other. The movie led to a number of requests for appearances, which increased Peek's self-confidence. Dustin Hoffman, who played Babbitt, met Peek and other savants to get an understanding of their nature and to play the role accurately and methodically. The character of Raymond Babbitt, although inspired by Peek, was portrayed as autistic. In 1984, screenwriter Barry Morrow met Peek in Arlington, Texas the result of the meeting was the 1988 movie Rain Man. However, he became unemployed a decade later when his employers decided to computerize payroll accounting, and he was replaced by two full-time accountants and a computer. Following this, tutors visited his house twice a week for 45 minutes by the age of 14, Peek had completed the high school curriculum.Īged 18, he got a job working out the payroll for 160 people: this was a task that took him only a few hours, without the need for a calculator. In psychological testing, Peek scored below average (87) on general IQ tests.Īt 6, it was suggested that he have a lobotomy to 'cure' his incessant chattering, fidgeting and pacing when he attended school, aged 7, he was expelled for being 'uncontrollable' after just 7 minutes in class. He could not button up his shirt and had difficulty with other ordinary motor skills, presumably due to his damaged cerebellum, which normally coordinates motor activities. Peek did not walk until he was four years old, and then in a sidelong manner. Peek lived in Murray, Utah and spent a considerable amount of his time reading at the Salt Lake City Library and demonstrating his capabilities at schools, with great help from his father. According to an article in The Times newspaper, he could accurately recall the contents of at least 12,000 books. Peek read by scanning the left page with his left eye, then the right page with his right eye. He could speed through a book in about an hour and remember almost everything he had read, memorizing vast amounts of information in subjects ranging from history and literature, geography and numbers to sports, music and dates. He read books, memorized them, and then placed them upside down on the shelf to show that he had finished reading them, a practice he maintained all his life. According to Peek's father, Fran (Francis) Peek, Kim was able to memorize things from the age of 16–20 months. There is speculation that his neurons made unusual connections due to the absence of a corpus callosum, which resulted in an increased memory capacity. Peek was born in Salt Lake City, Utah with macrocephaly, damage to the cerebellum, and agenesis of the corpus callosum, a condition in which the bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres of the brain is missing in Peek's case, secondary connectors such as the anterior commissure were also missing. Below is a list of most major carriers and their SMS and MMS domains. These domains are usually listed in that carriers’ help sections or could be asked from customer support. Generally, carriers have their own separate SMS and MMS gateway domains. These domains are controlled by phone carriers and are responsible for “converting” your emails. Since phone numbers aren’t email addresses, you’ll have to use “Network Gateway Domains” instead. The problem now comes in what address to place into recipient box. Instead, they send them as two or more SMS messages.Ĭomposing your messages is easy. Some carriers do not convert emails with more than 160 characters into MMS. Meanwhile, those that do go over or email with photographs, video, and the like would be turned into MMS instead. Sent emails comprising only of ASCII below the 160-character limit would be sent as SMS. That means the limitations of both protocols are enforced on the received message. When you send an email to a phone number, that email gets converted either to MMS or SMS when it reaches the recipient. Now, we’ve explained what MMS and SMS are so you may be wondering why it’s important to know what these two are. You can send photographs, short videos, or even audio files. The biggest draw of MMS compared with SMS is its feature that allows users to send media to each other aside from just text. Also called PXT or picture messaging, MMS allows messages of more than 160 characters. The first MMS-capable phone was released in 2002 and only gained popularity from 2004 to 2005 in the US. MMS, meanwhile, is a newer technology that extends the functionality of simple SMS. The first SMS in 1992 had the standard 160 American Standard Code for Information Exchange (ASCII) character limit still in use today. This format is an evolution of earlier technology like those used in pagers, beepers, and Telex machines. SMS is used as a communication standard protocol between devices. MMS vs SMS: Their Implications When Texting from an Emailįirst off, what’s the difference between Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) and Short Message Services (SMS)? Below is a simplified explanation for both. These have to do with character limits, ASCII character coding, network gateway domains, and how phone carriers handle their email to text feature. Although, there are a few hurdles you’d have to jump through though. Since we already mentioned we’d guide you through how to use an email to text someone, the answer is yes! Sending an email as a text message is as simple as making any normal email. However, it shouldn’t be applied to broken skin or delicate areas, such as in your eyes, or taken orally. During that time, you’re instructed to apply a thin layer to the affected area anywhere from one to four times per day. Usually, the instructions recommend that you only apply OTC hydrocortisone cream for a maximum of 7 days. There are also stronger versions you can obtain, but you’ll need a prescription to do so.
